Everyone uses smart phones. It's they have been around for only several years, but they are one of the fastest growing tech industries. In September 2012 it was reported that for the first time ever, over 1 billion people now use smart phones*. That's crazy!
This means more and more people are using smart phones and the number will continue to grow. Smart phones like the iPhone are where a lot of people store their pictures, movies, videos, contacts, emails and other important information. What happens when it breaks or gets lost? You can install the IDrive Lite app from any of the supported app stores. It supports iPhone, Android and Blackberry. It backs up your contacts and allows you to restore them at any time. You can also download the IDrive Photo app from the app store to backup your Photos. Both are accounts are manageable through the IDrivelite mobile website.
iCloud is probably the easiest way to back up your iPhone since it's built in to it. You get 5GB's for free, so you probably won't be able to store all of your images and videos there without upgrading. It is very convenient being able to sync Notes, Safari data, Reminders, Calenders, Contacts, Passbook info, photo streams, Documents & Data, and use the Find My iPhone app.

Keep your data by syncing it to the cloud. You can upload photos and create text documents using SugarSync. It does not handle documents like PDF's that exist on the iPhone but it can read documents and allow you to transfer them to the iPhone. But, say you get a PDF in an email you cannot upload it to SugarSync. That being said, SugarSync has a great photo feature that allows you to take photos right from within the program and uploads directly to the cloud.
Dropbox is a cloud storage solution that doubles as online backup. You can sync all of your files between multiple devices using the Dropbox. With Dropbox you can Sync your iPhone photos with it, upload documents from emails, and download any existing files in your Dropbox folder.
